Social Media and You…

, , , ,

Hello to all my readers and those who just stop by. I know I rarely post. That should be changing soon. There are a lot of things in my life that have changed. From being signed to work with OSL Publishing; which so you know Harald is awesome to work with and a great person who works extremely hard and no, he did not ask me to say that; to my classes changing in college, to getting a new job…Oh my. I also have learned about other things as well so that my blog can work for me in Social Media and help others along the way. Social Media for an artist is huge. You have to stay on top of things and make it work. Currently in school I am learning about this Social Media strategy. Not that I am too happy about it, honestly, I am a writer not a Social Media Butterfly or SMB….Someone make that a new thing for texting please.

I mean I tweet, tumble, Google +, LinkedIn, Path and a few more. The reality is I don’t and won’t facebook. I am not a fan, thus instragram is out too. (facebook and instragram are buddies) I won’t do them because of the CIA and FBI connection and seeing I write about standing up against the Government, for my readers who can see my point of view they will understand. For those who don’t, I can’t explain it, it is a gut feeling that I cannot nor will I participate in those two sites. I know my readership would go up, I know I would have followers, I choose to take the road less traveled. Besides I read that the Google + is the adult facebook anyway. Since the stories I write right now for Amazon and Kindle are adult, you should be 18+ to read them, so honestly Google + is a better site for me.

Anyway, with that being said, the reality is I have noticed that we are a Social Media Society, SMS haha. We live and die by Social Media, or at least some do. Not everyone is included in that statement. I so often feel that I am fighting a monster on the Social Media front because I do not spend my time there. It is a great marketing tool. A fantastic way to promote yourself as a freelancer or small business. It is also extremely time consuming and can become a headache. Honestly, I am still learning WordPress. Love the format, still learning its SEO’s abilities.

I start this Social Media Experiment; or SME, tomorrow. We will see if my readership and exposure becomes more widespread. My google hits are bound to go up and fluctuate with this SME project. In a strange way I welcome it and dread it as well. Who knows maybe it will make me post more here as well. I have an excel spreadsheet for it to keep up with the experimentation. So I have a few links I will be adding and a couple of commercial breaks to show you. For those who know me, you know, if I don’t believe in it, I won’t post it. I am still a NYer after all and we are told we are the rudest people on the planet all the time. Or at least I am told so. I don’t think so. I know we are just busy by nature and sometimes forget to stop and smell the roses.

So one link is here…Go check these books out…they are great reads and I do know the author, MD Finley is a great guy who knows what he is talking about. These books would make a great gift or a self-read.

<“title=”Leave the Ranks of the Superstitious and Cowardly” target=”_blank“>//

And there is also…
<“title=”Beer, Applejice and a Sterile Sample” target=”_blank”>//

Both are amazing books and yes I have read them and learned a lot from them. Also don’t forget to check out my link to my books. I ask you are 18+ to go there.

My books come out every Monday so if you are a Kindle reader, you can read it for free.

Well that is all for this broadcast day.

Thank you again to all my readers and OSL Publishing.

Okay…side note, I am still working on the linking thing…

You are the future

, , , , ,

Sometimes we sit and hold on to dreams. Dreams are simply faith defined and exploded into something we hold. I have recently been picked up by a publishing house who I have constant and exceptional communication with the CEO. That is like walking on clouds in the sky and having rainbows greet you. There is this amazing feeling to know that you have people who believe in you so much, they are willing to back you. Blessings are the minor word in this situation. It is like standing upon the edge of a cliff and knowing that if you fall, there is a phoenix waiting to catch you upon that fall. That no matter what, you will have the candy store at the end.

I have been exceptionally blessed this holiday season. No matter the personal struggles that have happened there is this phoenix that rises me from the ashes to see the beautiful diamond that has yet to form. My roller coaster ride started so long ago. And now I am sitting at the top of a 500 foot drop. The g forces building beyond any control.

I am ever indebted to Harald and OSL publishing. They found me. I just wrote. Was just myself and now there is this hidden fame just waiting to be exposed. They have no idea how they made this little farm girl find her feet. They have no idea the tears that came from seeing the reviews of writing that was so hidden. This is like the golden ticket and I am Charley, just waiting for that glass elevator.

As Wonka would say, “We are the dreamers…” when Varooka stated, “snozeberry, who ever heard of a snozeberry?” See we are the dreamers, we are the dream makers. We are what the future holds onto. We are the blessings, and the hope that dreamers seek when they don’t know where to begin. We hold onto faith, we know, we know. Our blessings are small, yet our soul and spirit guide and lead. We are the dream makers, we are the voice of the voiceless.

It does not matter our station in life, it does matter our station in the universe that watches. We are responsible as artist, we are responsible as dream makers to give hope and live on that walk of faith. We are the ones that make a difference. Hold onto those dreams and know, that one day, your name will be in lights, you will be remembered and your actions spoke louder than words. That you were part of the butterfly effect on the world that people scoff at, they laugh at, they mock. You are the dream makers, you are the future of the universe, and you are faith in its walk. You make a difference in your world that makes an impact on the world that surrounds you. You can never be forgotten for your imprint on the world is non-negotiable. You matter, you are alive and you have a voice to change the world.

The dream maker, the believer, the future of the world.

Lady Aingealicia

Wishing you the best everyday…

As the holidays are here, America prepares for what I consider one of the most commercial days of the year. Yes, I know bah humbug. It is how I feel. Every year I become more jaded to this decorated commercialism. I am no longer a child. It is what I see that makes me feel like this. I would love to wake up one year and see the reason for the season year round, instead of a few days at the end of the year where people in general are nice for maybe 3 weeks because of the elf on the shelf that might be watching over you.

Why does it take a holiday for someone to extend the hand of kindness? Not everyone is that way, so my words are not directed to them. Please don’t read into it like that. I would love for people to see what I am saying. The commercialism now starts right before all hallows eve-Halloween for those that is a new term—and continues until somewhere in the middle of January. I mean you can’t even make it to gobble- gobble day without the commercialism blaring. And the race is on. This rush, rush, rush to get the biggest house on the block full of holiday gifts without a thought of buyer’s remorse; that comes after the first credit card bill of the year.

Never mind that you already have a mountain of debt, now you own a second mountain only to have a third follow for next year. Even the gifts are not the icing on the cake. I am honestly sure, even if Christmas did not exist, there would be a holiday between the harvest and spring for retailers to expose their marketing skills that could bankrupt a small country. Yes, I am that bah-humbug person. Or well, the Grinch. I have a heart; I am just not a holiday person.

I have never understood why people who are normally curmudgeons to world year round, except for a few days a year, even bother to be nice on those days. Those are the ones that will buy you gifts and share the eggnog with you on one day a year and the ‘poof’ the next day cut you to the core with rude remarks because apparently the eggnog soured in their stomach. Better yet, the boss or co-worker/student who plays nice then the day after the 25th refuse to say boo to you. Be consistent at least and be a jerk 365/7/24. Don’t insult others intelligence by pretending for one day a year you can be minutely human.

As you can tell, I don’t like the holidays. I loathe theme. I can’t wrap my head around why we can’t just celebrate life on a daily basis. Why does it take a holiday for some to care? I generally care on a daily basis; the holidays are my polar opposite. I don’t need a holiday to wish you the best or hope you are blessed. I shun the commercialism that exploits what is not the ‘reason for the season’ and I always loved and still love Scrooge before the ghost visit him. A Christmas Carol is my absolute favorite story this time of year, The Grinch runs a close second, before he shares the pudding with the Who’s down in Whoville. Bahumbug everyone, may you be blessed every day of the year and may the season shine down on you and may you have a fruitful harvest for the whole year, not just when the elf on the shelf is watching.

Blessings be and be blessed.

Age Old Travesty in Modern Day Society…

A note to my readers…

This is an op-ed and I am stating I am using my 1st Amendment rights as a Journalist and a writer of the Free Press with what is contained in this message.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

You may not agree with my words; that is okay. I will still defend your right to say what you need. I ask that you respect my right to say what I feel I need to. Note, the 1st Amendment also covers peaceful assembly, which is important to remember for this piece as well. It is my hope this piece will go viral and that others who are setting fires can see another way to make their voices heard.

I want to thank the many supporters who read this piece before I dropped it and their opinions and help in editing, ideas, and the little things that would have hurt the piece; MD Finley, Dr. Loobey, Tiya, Mohammed, Jordana, Jeff and those who encouraged me to move forward with this piece. I am truly blessed.

Please pass this on to who you feel would find interest and my deepest sympathies to those who have been harmed in this activity that now can never be changed in history.

As always,

Age Old Travesty in Modern Day Society…

Burn baby burn,

The trees to the ground,

The lack of sound,

Until you fall on your knees,

For life’s soliloquy.

Age old history repeated itself on the day Michael Brown died. Where justice is unjust in a cryptic society of ‘do as I say, not as I do’, stated very clearly and lived by. There is no question that in this case the miscarriage of justice has been handed down. The fact that a young man – as we the people see it – was shot and murdered by a law enforcement officer that will never pay the price in life that should be given. This man got away with murder and did it in such a public way that Joseph Goebbels and Hermann Göring would be proud. This disgusting act is an atrocity representing our legal system today.

Today’s society has more to lose than what one may think. It is one thing to know discrimination exists – it is a whole new ball game when demonstrated in full. What we lost when that young man was slaughtered – we will never truly know. His life ended too soon to say. What if his hands were to create the next self-sustaining farm or he were to find the cure for Alzheimer’s? What if he was a new peace leader? Only to be shot down in cold blood. His parents will never know the full potential of a son they raised and lost. They will only be able to remember and wonder what could have been. The ache in their hearts will never dissipate; everyday something will remind them of the possibilities never achieved. A town lost its identity to social media and national attention that went nowhere except to create anger and hatred. A murderer lost his cover – yet also will lose his freedom to an extent. He will never be able to go back out into society without a disguise – unless it is with those who revere him for his actions. The decision finally announced at 8 pm on November 24, 2014 – regardless of the findings – has lost society’s respect for the most part. Sure, some will agree with the decision – maybe 5% of the population, yet they too will be lost.

It does not matter what was or was not found by the prosecution. What was or was not presented. It had already been predetermined before the court case even went to trial what the decision was going to be. The ‘good ole boys’, knew prior of the decision before presenting it to the people. How evidence would be inconclusive or that it would not match up with eye-witnesses, which for some reason now are silent. Of course there were 3 autopsies that state young Mr. Brown was not shot 10 times. Why did he have to be shot the first time to begin with? When is it absolutely necessary for law enforcement to use fatal force? Not brutal; fatal. Sure there may be times, however how can a young man be deserving of that? Did he have a weapon, besides what officer stated, that young Mr. Brown, ‘tried to take his gun and use it against him’ or that young Mr. Brown, ‘was going to attack’ him.

That is easy enough for a man to say who got off scott-free without so much as an indictment for murder – even in self-defense that is quite remarkable.

I digress, this is not about what is right or wrong on the actions that occurred. There is nothing that can be done about that now. What is currently going on though, can be executed in a more effective way. There is no sense of destroying the land you have to live on. It will never be fixed. Mind you, the government officials will make sure of that. They will leave it as a reminder for the people who are standing up and saying, ‘This was a miscarriage of justice, and we want results’. They will leave it for the future generations as a testament. To this day, there are still streets in many cities that have never been fixed due to violence answering violence. It is a losing battle on both ends. There is a smarter way to fight this.

I urge you to find out where the people who did the injustice do their shopping, do their banking, where they go to church, and where they eat out. Who do they support? Who elected them into the positions they are in? Boycott the places they patronize, hit the purse strings.

Write the officials, use social media to blast the addresses to be written and who must be questioned for the answers given. Fight for the right to be heard on the media, on the internet, through boycotting those who support those who just let young Mr. Brown die without representation and justification. Do not let this continue, just do it wisely, with thought, and with actions that will get results without destroying where you lay your hat.

Appeal, take this to a higher court. Contact lawyers who will support you, who will give you the right direction to take this as far as it can go to change the current society as we see it – as we know it is. This society will never change until something happens that allows for the world to see that violence can be fought at a different level. A level of wisdom where you can beat the ‘good ole boys’ at their own game. In their purse strings: Smarter, wiser, and productive.

Be angry. Get justice. Let them hear your pain that pours the rivers of blood into the streets of years of injustice that was simply made evidently public November 24th, 2014. Do what you need to do to get the peace that is needed to move forward. If there is no justice, there is no peace; however if one can know justice they can know peace and if all else fails…

Burn baby Burn.

Monsanto and you….

, , , ,

Well here it is, hot off the presses or shall we say, researching for hours…I found out some very interesting things, thus why I am publishing it quickly because I believe it is a need to know now situation. I forgot how fun it was to write a piece like this, thanks for tuning in…

Chemically enhanced allergies and the new food crisis…

In today’s world we already have so much to do, that the idea of sitting on the computer or searching through thousands of research papers may be the last thing anyone wants to do. Unfortunately with food allergies on the rise, this may start to become common place for anyone who is concerned about themselves or their families health. Food allergies are on the rise according to a report from the CDC presented and released in 2013. and . Though the CDC may argue that they have no idea why this could be happening, many others have the opinion that one company has a large hand in this epidemic that is effecting mostly our children; the new generation that will be adults soon enough. Mind you, it is not only children who are being affected by these new allergies, adults are as well. For the most part, it is the children from the ages of birth to 17 that are being watched closely. These allergies range from mild reactions to death.

Though there is no actual proof of Monsanto, the company in question, being responsible for the allergy increase, there are several independent reports that hint to the fact that Monsanto is behind the allergy rise. With their increase in Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s or GE’s), often called suicide seeds due to the fact the seeds do not reproduce viable seeds for planting the next years crop; the world has begun to see the reactions not only in the food market, also in their children who are spending more time at the Doctors offices and Hospitals. If this crime were able to be proven, Monsanto would have to declare bankruptcy from the litigations that would occur. However,  the United States of America does not prosecute with out proof, and in an unprecedented move to protect themselves from litigation, Monsanto has been able to sneak in a bill that was signed by President Obama last year, 2013 that allows Monsanto to be immune to any litigation, even if they are brought to court and  found guilty. Hidden in H.R. 933 or also known as the Text of the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2013 is this little gem.

SEC. 735.

In the event that a determination of non-regulated status made pursuant to section 411 of the Plant Protection Act is or has been invalidated or vacated, the Secretary of Agriculture shall, notwithstanding any other provision of law, upon request by a farmer, grower, farm operator, or producer, immediately grant temporary permit(s) or temporary deregulation in part, subject to necessary and appropriate conditions consistent with section 411(a) or 412(c) of the Plant Protection Act, which interim conditions shall authorize the movement, introduction, continued cultivation, commercialization and other specifically enumerated activities and requirements, including measures designed to mitigate or minimize potential adverse environmental effects, if any, relevant to the Secretary’s evaluation of the petition for non-regulated status, while ensuring that growers or other users are able to move, plant, cultivate, introduce into commerce and carry out other authorized activities in a timely manner: Provided, That all such conditions shall be applicable only for the interim period necessary for the Secretary to complete any required analyses or consultations related to the petition for non-regulated status: Provided further, That nothing in this section shall be construed as limiting the Secretary’s authority under section 411, 412 and 414 of the Plant Protection Act.

Where is the connection you may ask? Rightfully so.You are not the only one asking. Consumers around the world are asking why does my child now have a peanut/soy/milk/gluten (the list goes on) allergy? They are questioning and experts are answering. As is, the mounds of research required to answer these simple questions are piling up, and you would think it should not be so hard to find the answer. Think again.

If you have noticed lately, the talk of GMO.’s and labeling has died down, yet if you do not have food that states that it is not Genetically Modified, you do not know what you are eating or where it is coming from. Thus you may be ingesting food that will harm you or your family in one of the simplest ways, that of your allergy resistance. GMO’s were not even introduced into our food until 1996; though Monsanto was beginning to research back in 1982 and had their first field test in 1987. So when you compare the rise of allergies according to the CDC website, ironically, the rise in allergies have been noted since 1997.

Monsanto is a huge company and has been in our lives more that you may realize; from the saccharine invention in 1901, to Agent Orange. Monsanto was involved in the Manhattan Project and have created PCB’s, DDT only to name a few lovely facts of this company. They introduced hormones into our bovine, which in turn has made our children to grow prematurely as far as puberty and breast development. This growth hormone has also been proven to have a link with prostrate cancer. Monsanto is doing what they can to come to the consumer as “The Farmers Friend” the problem with that, if you talk to the farmer’s involved with the first seeds that were given so freely, they no longer have land to farm due to contamination or creation of a new super weed that takes over the valuable farm land, bankrupting the farmer and their family.

Again, you may be asking, what does this have to do with allergies? If you go back to basic science of ecology and the cycle of life; what you eat is what the animals eat, what they eat is coming out of the ground, what is put in that ground goes to our water. It is a never ending vicious cycle.

Soil fertility as a whole, is invaluable and irreplaceable as this statement below supports,

“Research has demonstrated the great importance of soil organisms for the fertility of the soil. In one gram of productive soil there is a complex web that can exceed over 100 million microorganisms that may represent over 1000 species. The main components are bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoa, nematodes, earthworms, and insects. Out of these, bacteria and fungi constitute about 80%, the proportions of these two depending on soil type. There is a complex ecological interdependence between all soil organisms. Together they are responsible for the cycle of decomposing and restructuring organic material so that it will be accessible to growing plants. It is also responsible for the nitrogen and water-retaining properties as well as for other factors of great importance for soil fertility. “Without the soil foodweb, plants would not obtain the nutrients necessary for growth, and the above ground foodweb would not long continue” according to Nannipieri, P. et al. (1990).”

To continue what is said about soil, here is some input of what GMO’s or, as labeled GE crops, (Genetically Engineered crops) are doing…

“Ho, M.W. & Tappeser, B. (1997) have proposed that the vector DNA in GE crops may promote horizontal transfer of genetic material between unrelated bacterial species. They warned that the result may be new human pathogenic bacteria.

This idea was further developed by Ho, M.W. et al. (1998). They refer to experimental observations indicating the possibility of gene transfer not only between related bacteria but also between bacteria of different species, as well as between bacteria and fungi and between bacteria and higher organisms, including mammals. They warn that the vector DNA may be transferred from GE plants to soil bacteria and soil fungi and contribute to increased horizontal transfer. They suggest that this may have contributed to the emergence of new human pathogenic bacteria during the last 10-15 years, some of which have been very harmful.”

On another note, another site has also supported the connection between GMO’s and allergies…Now remember that cycle of life, as these three small blurbs will show, though they may seem separate, are connected by a minimum of 4 degrees.

“Specificity of the association of GM foods and specific disease processes is also supported. Multiple animal studies show significant immune dysregulation, including up regulation of cytokines associated with asthma, allergy, and inflammation.  Animal studies also show altered structure and function of the liver, including altered lipid and carbohydrate metabolism as well as cellular changes that could lead to accelerated aging and possibly lead to the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). 7,8,10 Changes in the kidney, pancreas and spleen have also been documented. 6,8,10 A recent 2008 study links GM corn with infertility, showing a significant decrease in offspring over time and significantly lower litter weight in mice fed GM corn.”

The cycle of life in 6th grade terms…Farmer Brown plants the grass that is grown to feed the cow, that gives us milk and beef that we ingest; remember the cow digested the grass, that now is part of our genetic make up as our body processes the food that becomes protein and sustenance to survive. The same with the food we buy to place on the table everyday to feed our families, such as vegetables, other meats, drinks and fruits. It is a rudimentary way to say, we are what we eat.

This should be enough to scare anyone to seek out their local farmers that are strict about being organic and GMO free. It isn’t though. Why? Because of the cost mainly, however availability of non-GMO items are increasingly difficult in today’s fast paced world. Yet, honestly, until enough people stand up and say, “No more! We, as a society are not biochemical test subjects to find out how far Monsanto can take their monstrosities. We did not sign up to live on Dr. Moreau’s Island for a permanent vacation. ” We will continue to lose in this game until that time comes. This game,  is a game of life that does not only affect you, it affects future generations of people, animals, and crops that will be trapped in a never ending cycle. Allergies in the end will be the minor issue of what the final destination of this travesty is. Mother earth is the final casualty of war in this collective agreement of not standing up to fight when the fight is plausible to win.

And this concludes our blog cast day…

How yesterday looks like today…

, , ,

As of late I have been watching a lot of different shows that were from yesterday. Right now it is 2001:A Space Odyssey. This movie was made in 2968 and when you watch it, it is scary to see what the creators saw for the future. In a lot of ways it is as if they transported themselves to our days now. Creating a space age movie that shows what look like tablets for computer screens and also smart computers that out think us. Using the prime directive of a computer from something like I-Robot. That prime directive being, first do no harm basically. A very pagan belief.

So that makes me wonder, how far have we come as a technological society to realize that the movie makers are on to something that in some cases we should fear? The reality is, main stream media can not always tell the truth, so they use creators to tell the stories that others won’t. Sometimes it is the only way to get the story out, through fictions based off reality.

Several years ago, I saw a movie that I did not think would matter in my life today, however, ironically, I am writing a paper about the company for my critical writing course this week. Now that I am researching it, I am finding out how important that movie is. It is scary because in the movie, the people who were researching it are no longer here. Apparently they uncovered something that was not meant to be found out.

For me that is an everyday thing. I always seem to stumble upon something that puts at least my computer at risk. I can’t tell you how many computers I have lost because I refuse to shut up. When I started writing, it was a natural thing for me like breathing. When I was called into the role of journalism, I found my niche. For some reason, even as a young adult I questioned everything. Journalism just give me a reason to logically do so. I want to know why, what, who, when. For me there is always a reason. I took the red pill along time ago and have never looked back.

I want a world that is a perfect society that allows for equality and utopia, who knows if that can ever be achieved. That being said, that does not mean I don’t seek for it. That being said, I know that the chances of that are slim. I accept that, it does not mean I don’t seek and wonder can it happen? Of course maybe in time if we can look through the scope of a movie lens.

Just so my readers out there know, the story I am going to cover for my paper is on Monsanto and allergies. See I was not always a Celiac. Something in my body changed. I want to know why. I suppose after you die 5 times, you question things like that. Or at least you should.

Also, I have seen farm lands affected by Monsanto’s generosity of soy beans to help struggling farmers.  Sure they gave them the beans and bought them back at a fair market value, however now the land is useless. In this case I refer back to the Art of War…”Impose your will on the enemy. Remove the enemy’s food supply. Appear at places where they must hasten to defend. Attack at places which are undefended. Be invisible and inaudible, as much as possible. Distract them by throwing something odd and unaccountable. Divide the enemy. Form a single united body. Never disclose your fighting spot as the enemy will be forced to deploy their soldiers in multiple locations. Discover the enemies’ plans and the likelihood of success. Force him to reveal themselves. Compare the opposing army with your own. Conceal your dispositions and your tactics. Vary your tactics once you have won. Strike at weak places. There are no constant conditions in war.”

( )

Where does this come into my beginning comments of Space odyssey, because the reality is all fiction is based off reality when you get down to it.

Anyway, more next week. I will post my findings on Monsanto and allergies as this concludes our broadcast day…

I know it has been awhile…

I apologize for that to my followers. I have somewhat checked out of the net, or at least writing on it for a while. I feel sometimes that is how a writer is, they write and write and write, then all of a sudden ‘poof’ they are gone, sometimes for days, sometimes months, sometimes years. It is not fair to the readers of course, however sometimes the writer has to take a step back and reanalyze their lives and where they are going, where they are, and they of course where they have been. Then there are the times you just don’t feel like writing.

For me, it has been more, I have been getting my life in order. I have gone back to school, am writing for money, and working on a book. A fiction book called “The Jaakar”. I know I have had new visitors and am very grateful for them. I am slowly building a fan base, which of course is important.

For me blogging is not the easiest. However, I also know in today’s world it is important for your readers to know who you are by this medium. It is important to be in constant movement in life to move forward and grow. How easily we forget this and get stuck in our own little worlds that are closed off to the rest of existence. I have a tendency to withdraw from life. It is that moment and time that I don’t want to deal with anyone or anything. I forget I may actually be productive and pass forth some of the things I have learned.

I have a personal goal of writing at least once a week on a topic. This week is on two phenomenal books I have read in the last week. and

I am very honoured to have been able to read these books and write reviews on them. For my readers, I suggest highly you get these books, they are well worth the investment. There is so much to learn from them and reminders of things we have forgotten.

Well, that is about all for today. I know it is short, however I will be working on my post for next week during the week.  Until the next time, don’t forget your towel and as always, the answer is 42.

New people, new beginnings…

, , , , , , ,

I have a new roommate. Irony runs thick in this world and this life time. She and I are very similar in many things. From the foods we eat to our belief system. Like peas in a pod. It is a good thing, we have the same belief system. Sure, it is a fresh friendship, however, people whom are supposed to be in our lives at the right point and time always come. I truly believe that we are put into each others lives for reasons. Either to teach or to learn. We can learn from people or teach them. It is always one way or another.

I can’t tell you how much I have learned from others. I always learn something new from everyone I run into or that is placed in my life. I am blessed that way. I also am exposed to a great many things, whether it is small blessings because they think as I do, which by “normal society” is sometimes is seen as out there I guess you could say. We don’t always walk the same walk. We are our own people, with our own mind and our own values. Sometimes those go into a different vein that what people are used to.

For example, she and I see eye to eye on healthy food and the affects of that food. I am a living testament to foods that kill. I am a Celiac. For those whom do not know what that is, I am highly allergic to Gluten. So allergic, I have had complications that have lead to me requiring life saving care 5 times in my life. Believe me you learn very quickly how important a good diet is when technically you have been brought back to life 5 times. Now not all the times were due to the Gluten issues, however because I was misdiagnosed for 5 years, that had a great deal to do with why I got so sick.

I finally ended up in Brooklyn in a coma, requiring to be placed on a respirator and brought back to life twice. Once in the ambulance on the way and once in the hospital. When I woke up, the nurse asked me in the sweetest voice what day it was. I said it was Thursday, she informed me it was Tuesday of the following week. Let’s just say that did not sit well, the next shocker was I was paralyzed from the waist down. Besides the Celiac disease, I also had contracted GBS along the way. Once I realized I was paralyzed, my comment, in a very loud, disgruntled voice, stated very clearly, “I am not F**king living this way.” I am able to walk today, as a matter of a fact, I walked out of that hospital 6 days later. Sure, not the most stable of walking, I still walked.

As you can see I can go from one subject to the next with out thinking or having a complete train of thought. I write what I feel in these blogs and what I feel is needed to be said for whom ever may read it. I don’t know who might reply, who might read, who might be touched as my roommate has touched me in the last 24 hours. When you let go and you let that higher power come in, he will place the right people in your life to touch you or to be touched. That human connection. That connection period. In my previous blog I spoke of the negative people I had to remove and now a very positive person has come into my life. I am truly blessed. That is just one person mind you,

There are many who have come into my life as of late. In the last 3 months since getting out in February, I have been blessed with so many people I can not even begin to thank them except to bring them into my blog world and write about what they and have done and the potential they may have to help those out there.

Welcome to my new follower, Jaroslaw. Take a minute and go visit his site. He has a lot of good information out there. I can’t thank you enough for your support. Well that is all for today, hopefully the blog was not to crazy to follow. Take care and don’t forget your towel.

Hidden Cost

, , , , , , , , ,

I went to a store the other day and made a purchase with my credit card. I decided I needed a little extra money, so I did what most people do and withdrew about $10 extra. I didn’t think anything about it and went to go make another purchase later and low and behold my card was declined. I was shocked. I knew what was on there and knew that the money should be on there. So of course I called the 800 number on the card and listened to the transactions and boom, there it was. I listened to the words of the voice on the other end of the line, it listed my purchase and then it listed another purchase I know I did not make. A $3.00 charge. I shook my head as I hung up the phone. I mean what else could I do? Scream, shout, go back to the store and yell at them. It is my own fault for going to that store. Especially when I know this store is known for jacking up the prices on everything. For me it is about the fact it is on the way to one of the many things I do, so it is convenient for me to go there. Enough said, we all know that story.

So that got me to thinking about the other “hidden cost” in our lives that we may or may not think about. People, places, and things. What are some of the hidden cost there we may not think about? Such as, recently I had to remove about 4 people out of my life because of the hidden cost that were taken from me with out being seen. They were negative people in my life and I had to expel a lot of energy to deal with them. One even made me want to go back to my old habit of drinking. I have been sober now for almost 15 months. (For those of my readers whom know me, you know I put my life out there. I have nothing to hide. It will come out anyway.) I had to talk to a mentor and good friend, well several and they said, get that person out of my life of course. Sanity is priceless. This could have been a hidden cost of my sobriety. Which of course is not so hidden once you are at the bottom of a fifth of vodka and your emotions are out of check.

Anger is another one that we don’t think about. How people can needle away at our temperament can be a deadly hidden cost. One that can cause stress, ulcers, even death because we either do not confront the anger or we vent inside and let it eat away at our insides. Again sanity plays a part in this hidden cost.

Frustration at ourselves or others. Allowing others to use us. Self-pity, lack of sleep, lack of recreation, so many things can be added to the list of hidden cost. Those hidden cost eventually cost us the surface, just like that $3.00 charge cost. Sometimes we see it right away, sometimes it takes months, even years of this cost.

Places can cost us too. My incarceration came from my place at the time, my association, and of course things I was doing. That hidden cost came to light with 11 months to think about it behind locked doors and my mind still sorting out many things about me. Where I am today. The hidden cost I have cost others by my actions in the past. Some of those hidden cost are trust, loss of time, loss of freedom. You might say, well those cost can be seen. Not really in the full scope of the matter. You can’t see my loss of trust from others. The loss of freedom taken from those whom I affected with my actions. The loss of time that was stolen from those whom needed me at the time of my “vacation” as I tend to call it.

Sometimes these hidden cost are not only to ourselves, to those around us. The moments lost that can never come back. Graduations, deaths, births, holidays. That loss of trust and betrayal is not only to yourself, it is to those around you that depend upon you. Be mindful of the hidden cost in your life. Take an inventory of the people around you.  Are they positive? Truthful, even when the truth hurts. Look and see what is around you? Think about the places you go. Are they productive to your situation or do they drain you. I don’t mean work. Things like that are as they are. You have to make a paycheck somehow. However, that does not mean you can not look for new employment that will empower you and make a positive impact in the lives around you. The things in your life. Are they there to help or to hurt? Do they get in the way? Are they productive in your life? Or can it be productive for someone else?

These are just points to ponder in your life as I do mine. What are the hidden cost in my life and how can I make sure I don’t pay that $3.00 everyday I make a step forward to be productive, healthy, and sane.
